4Say what's already covered
A short note about the big items stops duplicate prams and cots.
Write a short intro explaining your situation — first baby, hand-me-downs from cousins, a small flat — then list what would truly help: board books, muslin cloths, clothes in the sizes you're short of, a few freezer meals. A 'please avoid' note is genuinely kind; it tells grandparents you already have three swaddles.
We'd suggest leaving sleep, feeding and health products off the list altogether and following your midwife's advice instead.
